NACC is campaigning for improved healthcare and funds for vital research and, as part of that, are asking people to Step Up and Be Counted.

Welcome to the York and District Group website.

The aims of the group are:

To help people who have Ulcerative Colitis or Crohn's disease and their families by

  • Encouraging local support and self help
  • Guiding them to helpful sources of information, advice or support

To increase awareness of NACC through

  • Publicity to non-members
  • Links with the medical profession and hospitals
  • local media and events

To raise funds for local and national purposes

To encourage members to be involved.

How You Can Become Involved

  • Attend Group meetings
  • Offer yourself as an Organising Team Member
  • Offer to be a helper at events and activities

Meetings

The York & District group holds regular meetings (currently two per year).  The meetings are held in the various locations in York.

Full details are provided in our Newsletters.

Organising Team

The York Group is organised and run by an 'Organising Team', this team is made up of volunteers who are members of NACC.The Team must have a Team Leader (Chairperson), a   Treasurer and a Secretary, plus other team members who take on various roles such as Fundraising, PR, etc.

To become a Team Member you must be a member of NACC, however, members can be sufferers, relatives or friends of   sufferers.

We are always looking for 'New Blood' to join the Team. As NACC continues to develop we must continually move forward and come up with new ideas to carry out the aims of NACC.

If you are interested, contact the Team Leader for further information.  You won't be thrown in at the deep end, we will gradually introduce you to what we do at your own pace.  If you have any particular skills that would benefit the group, please let us know.

Fundraising

We are always trying to raise funds for NACC, for research and for the general running of the Association both Nationally and Locally. We hold several events of our own each year and also take stalls at larger events. We try to encourage our members to participate  wherever possible, either joining us at one of our events or organising one of your own on our behalf.
